When heterosexual people are out there dating, communication can sometimes be a little bit difficult as men and women don’t always understand each other. In fact, men and women can seem very silly and ridiculous to each other at times. Men and women prioritize things differently and they communicate completely differently. When they first start dating and they’re not yet familiar with each other, there can sometimes be some misunderstandings.
All that business about Mars and Venus really is true – men and women do sometimes seem like they’re from different planets. It’s not a good idea to make sweeping generalizations about peoples, but there is some truth to this most of the time. Women tend to come from a much more emotional place, and men often tend to come from a much more logical place. Women tend to want to read into the things that men say when the men usually meant exactly what they said as they said it. Women will go over every inflection for some clue as to what a guy meant when he more often than not meant exactly what he said. This can cause some misunderstandings between a couple as a woman thinks the man meant something different and the man doesn’t understand how what he said could be so upsetting. If both parties would just take a little bit of time to discuss the matter calmly, a lot of arguments could be avoided. Unfortunately, the discussion often happens when emotions are running high.
When that happens, the women tend to get overly emotional and the men tend to shut down because they’re not sure what else to do. If both men and women could try to be a little more understanding of each other and realize that doing things differently doesn’t necessarily mean doing it wrong, there would probably be less fights in most relationships. On the up side, the argument can often lead to make up sex, and that can be almost worth it.
