Many of us find the idea of making use of the many different Personals sites on the Internet to be a little scary and intimidating. We worry about making contact with people we do not know at all, and also what type of people we will find out there in the land of cyber dating and romance.
One of the fabulous perks of dating on the Internet, is that it allows us the ability to keep our distance and our anonymity until we feel comfortable enough with the other person to either meet with them in person for a date or to talk to them on the phone. We can take our own time to get to know the person and establish a level and pace of communication that we feel safe with, thereby removing a lot of the fear.
It is also a very good idea to arrange for that first in person meeting to take place in a very public place, so that we will feel safe and comfortable in our surroundings. While the Internet is full of lovely, honest and fantastic people, there can be certain times when people are not truthful or forthcoming about different things, and if we are going to be caught by surprise in a bad way, we always want it to be in a place where we can just excuse ourselves and politely leave the scene of the potential crime quickly and easily.
While it is good to keep a little bit of distance at first, this should not stop us from opening ourselves up a bit and seeing what the other people out there have to offer us. Many people these days have met their spouse or significant other on the Internet and have gone on to have happy, mutually satisfying and long lasting relationships.
A little adrenalin is always good, just don’t let your nerves get you so carried away that you do nothing.
